Learning & Wellbeing

During this uncertain time of remote learning, students and parents are encouraged to access supportive services to ensure that your child is known, valued and cared for.

Our Joey Learning Wellbeing website provide links and information to help connect our school community to staff here at school, as well as external providers if required. This site also provides some positive tips and recommendations to ensure that students are able to connect, thrive and succeed during this time of uncertainty.

Year Advisers

Year advisers are the first point of contact for parents and carers. They are able to direct any questions or concerns to the right person if required. Your child’s Year Adviser is able to be contacted via the Sentral Parent and Student Portal. We have created a step-by-step video guiding you through this process here.

School Counsellors

School counsellors can support students who are worried about school work, friends, or just feeling anxious. They can help parents and carers make decisions to support their children and link families to services that may be helpful. School counselling is confidential. During our period of remote learning, parents and students may access the counsellor through the Sentral Parent and Student Portal. Watch how to contact our school counsellors here.

Student Support Officer

Our Student Support Officer, Ms Jenny Croft, is a youth worker and is able to connect students and families to community resources and assist with general advice and wellbeing issues. Like the School Counsellor, Ms Croft can be accessed via the Sentral Parent and Student Portal.

Learning and Support & English as an Additional Language / Dialect

Students who have been identified as requiring additional learning adjustments will continue to be assisted throughout this period of remote learning. Members of the Learning & Support team will be available to touch base with students to ensure that they are able to successfully access online learning at home. Zoom and Google Classrooms are the online platforms in which support will be provided. Students who currently receive support will be allocated a staff member to provide extra assistance during this time. Parents who feel that their child may require additional assistance can contact the Year Advisor who can refer students to the team. Year Advisor notifications can be made through the Sentral Parent and Student Portal.

Koori Club

The Koori club supports our proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students and helps our broader school community to develop a deeper understanding and respect for diversity, and value cultural differences. Mr Steve Stobbs can be contacted via the Sentral Parent and Student Portal and will additionally provide support vis Google Classroom.

International Students

Our International Student Coordinator supports those students who have chosen to study in Australia and works with DE International to ensure that the learning and wellbeing needs of this group are met. International Students and their parents / carers can reach Ms Ghada Majed via the Sentral Student & parent Portal. The International Student Handbook is available here.

Senior Studies Coordinator

The Senior Studies Coordinator is available to guide and support our Stage 6 students through their HSC and transition into post school pathways. Ms Amaney Roumieh can be contacted via the Sentral Parent and Student Portal. Students can additionally access Ms Roumieh by connecting through the Google Classroom established.

UTS University tutors are available to assist Stage 6 students and can be allocated to students after contacting Ms Roumieh.
