Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C)
Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.
The Parents and Citizens Association more commonly known as the P&C & is a non-profit organisation. The P&C is a school-based organisation consisting of parents, teachers and interested citizens which is led by the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary who are elected at the Annual General Meeting held once a year.
Meetings are generally once a term, and new members are always welcome. Participation from members in flexible at whatever level they are comfortable with, depending on work and other commitments.
Our aim is to be a positive link between the Sir Joseph Banks parent community, students, and school staff to identify the main requirements of the school, and plan accordingly how best to meet those needs. The P&C association work in a productive partnership with the entire school and the community to promote the interests of the school, and facilitate its development and further improvement, to achieve the best possible outcomes our students.
We endeavour to provide a wholistic learning and schooling experience for all the students at Sir Joseph Banks.
We do this by
• parents an opportunity to learn about the school’s policies and programs
• organising ways in which parents can share in shaping and developing school policies so that they reflect the broad agreement and support of the school community
• bringing parents together to share information and views
• assisting the school to build positive attitudes to students and their families
• stimulating community interest and participation in education
• raising funds and providing additional resources and amenities for the benefit of children attending government schools
• Involvement in staff employment panels
But most of all we give you a voice in your child’s school & school life.

The primary goal of our P&C is to increase student engagement and parental involvement in our students' educational outcomes.
Meetings
Sir Joseph Banks High School P&C meetings take place on Wednesday evenings twice a term from 6.30 pm. These meetings provide a forum for parents to discuss the school’s operation with the Principal in an informal, friendly atmosphere. Other school executive members and teachers often attend.
Meetings are held in the Learning Hub. We welcome your attendance.
Events
One of the most successful achievements of our P&C is the annual Community Iftar where our diverse Joeys’ family come together to share food and celebrate friendship. The P&C also support many other school events including Subject Selection Night, Parent/Teacher Night, Award Ceremonies and the Festival of Cultures.
