Sir Joseph Banks High School has been recognised at state level as leaders in student advocacy. Our students prosper and grow as they work alongside teachers in a supportive environment where ‘every child matters’.
‘The Junction' is our student services hub. Our learning and support team, student support officer, school counsellor and community liaison officers can be found there.
The Junction, a purpose built space for teaching, learning and nurturing relationships, is a suite of connecting rooms adjacent to the common room. It consists of:
- a classroom which is an exciting, innovative work space with flexible, funky furniture, whiteboard tables and shelves packed with fun resources
- a drop in room (the classroom) where students are welcome to socialise before school, recess and lunch
- a new kitchen that is stocked with supplies for making a hot drink or even breakfast as students chat to teachers and peers.
- a staffroom that adjoins the classroom for our learning and support staff
- a small meeting room where private discussions can be held.
Our student services faculty supports a diverse range of student learning needs to ensure all students receive the support they require to thrive at school. Interventions vary from student to student.
