Outloud (formally known as BYDS) is a community based cultural development organisation located at the Bankstown Arts Centre. Sir Joseph Banks High School works closely with Outloud on a wide range of exciting projects to enhance and support the learning of our students. Outloud projects cover theatre, music, literature, dance and multimedia.
Outloud runs and resources programs that lead to participants gaining skills in areas such as publishing, music and interview recording, music production, Indigenous dance and language, acting and oral history. They aim to match professional artists with young people, passing on skills and knowledge that the school system is not designed to do. Participation in these projects enriches our students’ learning and broadens their world.
We are proud that Outloud's talented Administrator, Kevin Ngo, is an ex Sir Joseph Banks High School student. Outloud staff are regular visitors to our school.
Recent Outloud projects include Artists in Residency, Deep Suburbia, The Hero Project, Stories of Strength and African Drumming.
