At Sir Joseph Banks High School, we value professional experience programs as a vital component of teacher education programs.
We welcome the opportunity for university students to complete their professional placement to extend their skills and knowledge to effectively manage and operate a classroom.
The professional experience program at our school has been designed to exceed the minimum expectations of the Graduate Teacher Standards. As a pre-service teacher, your professional experience will involve several opportunities for you to consolidate your understanding and application of the principles outlined in the Australian Professional Standard for Teachers by:
- Collaborating with highly qualified mentors, committed to providing a quality professional experience.
- Connecting with students to understand them and how they learn.
- Revising content and refining the manner in which it is delivered.
- Implementing the theory of teaching into a practical setting to develop the skill and confidence you need to be classroom-ready.
- Engaging in professional learning with colleagues and the wider community.
