Sir Joseph Banks High School prides itself on our student successes in debating over recent years. The school regularly competes in the NSW Premier's Debating Challenge across all stages of the competition.
As well as regular zone debates, many of our teams have progressed to interzone and regional final debates which showcase their ability to think critically, work collaboratively and argue convincingly.
Our most recent success includes the selection of one of our Year 10 students in the Sydney South Western regional team in 2019, allowing the opportunity to participate in the NSW Junior State Debating Championships. In 2017, our Year 10 team rewrote our school's history by progressing all the way to the state quarter finals.
Students with an interest or experience in either debating or public speaking are invited to be part of the school's debating teams.
