This years Annual Chess Competition boasted an exciting and bustling 3-day Round-Robin tournament with 16 contestants battling it out on the chess playing fields. The top players climbed their way through the ranks to get to the semi-finals on Day 4 and the Grand Final match on Day 5, with both playoff rounds consisting of very close games.
The competitors were rewarded for their participation in this years tournament at assembly this morning. Year 12 student Bader finished as the winner of the competition, with Hugo of Year 9 and Michael of Year 12 finished 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
A special thank you to Mrs Kotajima and Mrs Tran for organising and coordinating the entire tournament. Also a special mention goes to Mr Viegas who was in the Learning Hub every day of the competition, playing with and training the players in exhibition matches, as well as arbitrating multiple games throughout the tournament.
Thank you to all the players who participated and we look forward to seeing everyone competing at next year’s tournament.
