As part of the NSW Government's plan to rebuild essential services, a project is underway to upgrade Sir Joseph Banks High School to provide brand new modern facilities, refurbishment of existing school buildings and landscaping across the existing school.

Site establishment and early works from Monday 30 June

Early work to upgrade Sir Joseph Banks High School will start from Monday 30 June for approximately 4 weeks. The work will include:

From Monday 30 June

  • Replacement of stormwater and sewer pipes at the rear of the school

  • A concrete path will be constructed over the new pipes

  • There may be some noise created by digging trenches, laying pipes, and building the concrete path

  • All work will be contained to ensure the safety of students and staff

Saturday 5 July

  • Site investigations and geotechnical work will be carried out on the school grounds to obtain information on ground conditions to help inform the next phase of the project

  • Surveying the site, digging test pits, and drilling boreholes to assess soil and rock composition

  • A large excavator and drill rig will be in operation, generating intermittent noise

From Monday 7 July

  • Installation of temporary fencing to establish the site, including timber hoarding, mesh, and gates to prevent public or school access and reduce disruption to the school community

  • Surveying the site

Construction vehicles will access the site via the school carpark on Turvey Street.
There will be no street or footpath closures during the above work.
Traffic control will be in place when trucks are entering and exiting the school.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 7 am to 5 pm

  • Saturdays: 8 am to 4 pm

  • No work will take place on Sundays or public holidays

Managing Construction Impacts

Construction can be disruptive, and we thank you for your patience while we complete this important school upgrade project. We work closely with the construction contractor throughout the project to manage impacts on the school and local community.
