What a terrific Term 2 it has been for our students and staff. We have been actively involved in the assessment and reporting process over the last part of Term 2 and have released our reports via the Parent Portal exclusively for the first time ever! I thank you for supporting this initiative and making the most of the best form of communication we can now have with you - directly via the Portal!
Mr Garlick and his team have been working extremely hard on our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) approach to ensuring a calm, safe and respectful school environment. Recently this has been the 'Say it right!’ campaign, where we have been teaching the behaviours we want to see. This is going so well that I am very proud to report that student incidents has decreased markedly this year and our suspension rates have dropped by over 30%.
We have been continuing to showcase our excellence in teaching practice to schools from around the state and I have been out and about banging the Sir Joseph Banks High School drum whenever I am given the opportunity as we continue to be the focus of teaching excellence, innovation, opportunity and success.
We have much to look forward to next term including the introduction of our new positive recognition and awards scheme. This will be recognising, in a cohesive whole of school whole of learning approach, the wonderful effort our students contribute every day to their own learning and improving their skill set to move into the world post school.
Have a happy and safe holiday period. I look forward to seeing you all refreshed from the break in 2 weeks time.
Take care.
