Joeys' alumni are now supporting the Homework Centre. Class of 2018 students, Cloe Letele and Dianne Mitrevski, returned to Joey Banks today to tutor and mentor students at the centre. Cloe, who is studying Zoology and Animal Conversation, said that she was excited to give back to the school that had done so much for her while Dianne, a law student, said that she believes a Homework Centre of this type would have really helped her.
Centre coordinator, Louris Dahdal, said ‘Students learn really well from each other and provide a different perspective to issues that arise. We are delighted to have such wonderful young role models working with our students.’
The first session was really well attended. Students said that they loved the relaxed atmosphere, the yummy afternoon tea and being able to work with their friends.
Thank you to Todd Barlin whose generous donation has made this exciting initiative possible.
The Homework Centre runs from 3-5 in the Learning Hub each Wednesday. Students may stay for as little or as long as they wish.
