Congratulations to our Year 7 Enrichment Class who were the successful winners of the 2019 Canterbury-Bankstown Smart City competition!
Our 7E Geography class recently participated in the competition which required schools to submit a 1-2 minute video answering the question: “What does the future look like for you?” Students had to consider aspects of technology, growing populations, changing demographics, geo-political shifts in power, scarcity of resources, climate disruption and greater environmental pressures.
Our students worked collaboratively through many brainstorming sessions to think of several creative solutions for developing a sustainable city. They chose to make an Avengers-inspired video discussing the issues that would ruin our city in the future and what solutions could be put in place to solve these problems. This involved busy, fun-filled days of prop making, directing and script writing sessions in order to complete the project.
As a result of their hard work and effort in winning the competition, our school will be receiving a brand new 3D printer. The mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Khal Asfour, will be presenting the award and prize to our students at an upcoming school assembly.
