Term 1 is now done and dusted and what an awesome term it has been. I’d like to take this opportunity to recap just some of the highlights.
Committed staff
We’d like to thank and acknowledge the extraordinary effort and commitment of our teachers who have been extremely flexible and accommodating in catering for our ever increasing student numbers, fast approaching 650 students!
Extracurricular opportunities
Our students this term have run, jumped, thrown and swum their way through the term on the carnival front. There have been workshops for cyber safety and digital footprint and champion knockout sports teams overcoming adversity to claim victory!
International showcasing
We’ve been visited by university professors and school leaders from the Netherlands, student teachers from Texas and the Grafton education group. Feedback was that we are extraordinary and unique in our approach to student engagement and student learning (which is the secret to our students’ success).
Leaders in futures learning
Our STEAM and changemakers teacher, Mrs Tran has been asked to take our STEAMPunk Girls to the annual EduTECH Conference to share and present work in the NSW Education Futures Learning Space. Mrs Tran also recently took part in a Technology Australia video to highlight her leadership and application of futures learning and technology in the classroom at SJBHS. What an honour!
Best school website in NSW
Our website has been recognised as the leading school website in NSW. We are now used by the communications and engagement team as best practice in digital communication with our community. Our website is showcased at teacher professional learning across NSW.
Best HSC results ever
Our students’ HSC results continue to improve at a rapid rate as we continue to lead NSW public schools in growth of student learning outcomes between Years 9-12.
100% university entry 4 years running
For the FOURTH year in a row, 100% of students on an ATAR pattern of study successfully gained entry to university. That is AMAZING by any measure!
We have lots to look forward to in Term 2.
Our new change rooms and boys toilet opens Day 1 next term. They look amazing!
Winter uniforms start Week 1, so make sure you visit The School Locker on site or Lowes Bankstown during the holidays.
Our rejuvenated hockey field will be formally reopened for use and freshly marked.
Half Yearly exams and reporting lies ahead, so make the most of the break!
Have a fantastic autumn break and make the most of the warmer than usual weather.
Please be safe and make good decisions so we can all return refreshed for the exciting learning opportunities and amazing experiences only a student at SJBHS can understand.
Learning is fun and we love leading learning!
See you ‘on the flip side’!
