Over the past week our students have been working on their final project as part of the IMC Sky High program. They brainstormed important values, skills and areas for school and community improvement. A fun and engaging discussion followed, with students discussing the most important areas with their Sky High mentor Sandris. Through positive discussion and mentor guidance our students refined their ideas to a potential focus on climate change, homelessness and transparant politicians. These focus points helped provide the framework for their social impact campaign.
The followup session to the discussion workshop provided our students the opportunity to continue working on their social impact campaigns. They spent a day at UTS using iMovie on the iMacs to create their campaigns based on their initial brainstorm discussion and research. This project involved students making a civic campaign with iMovie, roughly ninety seconds in length. These campaigns will become part of the final celebration of our students' journeys and what they have achieved with the help of the Sky High program.
Through the iMovie project students practised techniques and processes to enhance the representations of their ideas. They have gained valuable skills such as planning and structuring their media to engage audiences.
