Power Up and Student Services have both won the Secretary's Award for an Outstanding School Initiative. There were many high-quality nominations and for a school to win two awards is a huge achievement.
The Secretary’s Award for an Outstanding School Initiative is a prestigious award presented to NSW public schools demonstrating via a program, event or initiative their commitment to teaching and learning outcomes, leadership, supporting the students and creating a sustainable learning environment.
The Award is sponsored by the Public Education Foundation. https://publiceducationfoundation.org.au/
It recognises our outstanding achievement in delivering the Power Up Literacy program and the Student Services initiative, both of which were recently featured on SBS Insight. www.sbs.com.au/news/insight/tvepisode/teaching-success
Principal, Murray Kitteringham, thanked the staff for their passion and commitment.
’Congratulations to the leadership team and large staff team for the research, design, data collation, thinking, adjusting, execution and feedback that goes into developing such a highly successful literacy program and rightful winner in this category. Just outstanding!’
‘I’d like to add my thanks and congratulations to the very large team that encompasses Student Services. The planning and vision that is behind such a broad, team-based approach to supporting student learning has been exceptional!’
Sir Joseph Banks High School is continuing to be recognised for the wonderful things we do to make this school such a dynamic and special place for teaching and learning. We are very proud of these award-winning programs: our staff and students have enthusiastically embraced them and extensive data shows they are working exceptionally well.
