Our Stage 4 & 5 students, Tarli, Mereki, Sarah, Teora, Amelia and Emily were invited to visit NSW Parliament House to speak with NSW Minister for Education, Rob Stokes, and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, The Hon. Sarah Mitchell, MLC about what learning looks like for our Aboriginal students at Sir Joseph Banks High School.
The students spoke about their participation in the Koori Club, partnerships developed with University, community groups, our Primary Partners and the many programs and opportunities, provided to students at our school.
Mr Stokes presented some books to the group, as recognition of their visit and provided a personal tour of parliament house.
Our students felt that Mr Stokes and Ms Mitchell were extremely generous with their time and were very interested in the professional and personal stories they shared.
