Sarahna Shrestha has been awarded the JJ Pollock Science Scholarship for 2018. Sarahna was a student at our school from 2015 - 2017 (Year 10 - 12). After her HSC Sarahna went to university to get started on studying and pursuing her career. She applied for the JJ Pollock Undergraduate Science Scholarship this year before she began her study at university. Sarahna is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Science.
Sarahna recently spoke about the value of the scholarship:
"The scholarship is a huge boost for me because it will help cover the costs of the course I am studying. Going to university is a big transition from high school and having one less thing to worry about will make it so much easier."
The JJ Pollock Undergraduate Science Scholarship is unique to our school. The scholarship was established in 2010 to commemorate JJ Pollock's extraordinary contribution to science education during his 22 years as Science Master at Sir Joseph Banks High School, between 1963 and 1985. This scholarship is an academic merit based scholarship of $5000 split over two years.
The aim of the scholarship is to assist any meritorious student who has registered in a tertiary science course in the year following their HSC to study any field of science to help them achieve their potential.
Its objective is to promote the lifelong study of science related subjects for achieving students in higher education.
Congratulations Sarahna on your hard work and effort. We look forward to seeing where your career takes you.
