Delivered by Canterbury-Bankstown Council and Warner Youth Education, the Graffiti Education program informs young people about the social and personal consequences of graffiti and associated risk taking behaviour. Our Year 8 students were provided with the practical strategies to avoid being involved in illegal activities.
Xavier Diaz educated and entertained the students with his humour, acting and personality. In Home Room, we have been working through activities to support the messages delivered in the workshop. The feedback from Year 8 has been very positive.
Some quotes from the post show survey:
"Choose your friends wisely"
"It is not cool to tag something just because your friends think it's cool"
"Graffiti can really affect businesses in a bad way"
"Graffiti costs council thousands of dollars a year to clean up"
"All forms of graffiti are illegal"
"Street art has an artistic purpose but still needs consent of the property owner"
"Learn that it's okay to say NO to your friends".
