Andrew Papagianopoulos, a student from Padstow North Public School, recently participated in our Primary Partners STEAM day workshop. He wrote a recount and review of the day's fun events!
"On Friday April 13, fifteen students from Padstow North PS went to Sir Joseph Banks High School. The event was a STEAM day that happened in the coolest library ever due to the fact that it is 3 storeys. STEAM stands for Science Technology Engineering Art Maths. We were invited to Joey Banks to learn more about STEAM.
Firstly, we met a teacher named Mrs Tran who coordinates these STEAM days. Mrs Tran got something called Ozobots out and we got to create our own tracks. We used special sheets and we had to use textas and use a special "colour code" sheet. Ozobots are small colourful creatures.
Later on we had to build Lego robotics, which took up half an hour. Lego robots are giant creatures which you have to build. After we built our robots we had to go on the computers and code. We had to try to make the robot go around a student. Then we tested our robots and one team had a lucky win!
I'm sure we all enjoyed this event. We all liked it because we learned new things and got to have a day off school doing fun activities."
Great work Andrew! We look forward to having many more students enjoy our workshops as much as you did!
