Insight's 'Teaching Success' aired last night. The response to the personal stories which our students shared has been overwhelming. The value of students having a voice and speaking so confidently about their experiences has moved everyone in our community and communities across the country. We have received hundreds of emails, text messages, Facebook comments and Tweets of congratulations and support. Below is a small sample:
Emails
Jan Green Director Bankstown Network of Schools I am emailing to extend my congratulations to you, your staff and your students on a wonderful representation of the values of public education and SWS schools in the rich learning environment that you have shaped to facilitate a holistic approach to learning and teaching. I am told the students looked fantastic and those who spoke, spoke well and represented a cross section of backgrounds, challenges, experiences and successes. For the broad range of viewers, the inextricable link between wellbeing and learning and how SJBHS has understood this and actively worked towards addressing this relationship for the benefit of the students, would have been really insightful.
John Overman My wife and I watched with growing joy the Insight programmed screened last night in W.A. You can be immensely proud of the magnificent work being done in your wonderful school. As a retired person with 45 years in primary education in W.A. I watch such programmes with what might be termed a 'benignly critical lens' the focus of which is determined by the characteristics and values we practised in the last four decades of the 20th Century, viz. love of learning, respect for the learner, attention to detail, delight in the growing intellectual mastery of the student in all subjects and concern for the emotional and social welfare of all students. Measuring the excellence of your school in all these aspects of your school's programme made viewing Insight an unmitigated joy and gave us enormous pride in the work of your school and its marvellous contribution to the richness of the life of all your young people. Congratulations.

Cloe SJBHS School Captain It was a great experience for all of our peers. We are very proud of our school and how far its come! We wouldn't be half the people we are today without the support and guidance we get from our teachers. I cannot express how honoured and appreciative I am to have teachers that willingly spend their free time to help us when we are feeling overwhelmed or just simply want to talk; it makes all the difference to us knowing we have a great support foundation at school (just like a second family). I just wish we were able to showcase every little thing our school does for us! However, it'd probably take up a whole season to show everything aha. I'm also very grateful to SBS INSIGHT for allowing us to share our stories to the community, to show we are more than what meets the eyes.
Barbara Doran Oh these beautiful young men and women! What an amazing community you have created at SJB. Makes me want to leave my school and come to teach with you all. Truly inspiring.
