Ms Stajcic always goes above and beyond for our students and the staff she leads at our school. Here she tells us about the exhibition of works from her Year 12 Visual Arts students:
On Saturday I had the privilege of attending the opening of NEXT at Casula Powerhouse. The exhibition showcased 17 local high schools HSC bodies of work from the 2017 Visual Arts cohort.
Out of the 27 student works on display, our school was successful in having three students selected for exhibition. This made me so incredibly proud and validated the quality of the work they produced. Mariam Abbas, Jenny Faanu and Hajar Assad were the successful candidates.
Upon arriving at the fancy cocktail party our students were greeted by the local major and the director of the gallery. Jenny's work was mentioned as one of the Top 5 Director's Choice- this is amazing and well deserved in my opinion! He continued to talk about the high quality of entrants this year and how it was very difficult selecting the works.
Families came and the students were able to show off their talents to their proud parents ensuring that they take home the very special catalogue which features their one whole page spread.
I walked around the exhibition proud as punch and reflected on the amount of hard work that the students put in. I'm not going to lie, many hours... many, many hours and effort go into such projects but the results are incredible and a testament to the students' excellent attitude and willingness to accept feedback.
Well done to all the students in this class and a super well done to these three successful kids... okay adults now. Don't forget to come visit us especially when you become famous artists (looks like it has already started for you :)
