Our International and Senior EAL/D students and teachers explored the history of our city last week with a walking tour around Sydney, Circular Quay and the Rocks area.
The excursion began with a walk across the Harbour Bridge from North Sydney, and ended with a stroll around the historic Rocks area.
Students delighted in the views of Sydney from the bridge and discovered the many lane-ways and historic areas of the Rocks.
Most students were amazed at the sights and sounds from the bridge, including The Opera House, Sydney Harbour, the ferries and Luna Park, along with the noises of traffic, ferries and passing trains.
Student remarks, as shown below, reflect their delight and enjoyment of the day.
"It's a long monumental pathway, with a metal arch and 2 concrete pylons each end." Bon
"The colonial times are reflected in the buildings and reflect a life from the past." Tommy
"It's of a Victorian age, revealed in the architecture and clothing and shops." Dung
"The harbour and its surroundings are very spectacular." Jenny
