This month Ms Conte has been acknowledged for her commitment to Public Education with a 30 year service presentation at yesterday's staff gathering.
Whilst casual teaching had been undertaken over many years whilst balancing her own theatre work, Ms Conte first came to SJBHS as an English teacher in a position created by Ms Jarmans maternity relief and was told at the time she had a hard act to follow. These words came to shape her and to this day, Ms Jarman remains one of Ms Contes inspirations and mentors.
In 1992, Ms Conte came to the SJB family full time, meaning 25 years of service to our school.
When asked about her most memorable moments she commented with a glint in her eye that there had been far too many to name just one, (her passion for Drama was clear), however her first HSC Drama class in 1994 is something very close to her heart.
When asked what she would go back and say to her beginning teacher self she replied "I wish I had you as a teacher". With a grin she continued to share that teaching is about what you will achieve in the classroom, opportunities created for your students. Focus on that and let the rest look after itself.
Thank you Ms Conte for the colour you bring to our school.
